ABOUT RATNER CONSTRUCTION & STEVEN RATNER
Steven A. Ratner has been a Certified Florida General Contractor (CGC045336) since 1988, bringing decades of experience in construction, construction management, and project supervision throughout Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Florida International University in 1986. Steven has been recognized by Outstanding Young Men of America and accepted into the Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Lambda Chi honor societies. He also holds a 30-Hour OSHA certification.
CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE
Steven Ratner has extensive experience in construction management, supervision, estimating, and general contracting involving millions of square feet of construction throughout his career. His experience encompasses projects of varying size and complexity, including commercial construction, tenant improvements and build-outs, residential construction, historic renovations, industrial facilities, VA hospitals, multifamily developments, and multimillion-dollar custom residences. His experience also includes project estimating, purchasing, scheduling, job-cost control, material and labor negotiations, and the development and management of construction processes focused on improving efficiency, quality, scheduling, and overall project performance.
OPERATIONAL & MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
Steven Ratner brings extensive operational and construction management experience to projects of varying size and complexity. His responsibilities throughout his career have included estimating, competitive bidding, contract negotiation and administration, scheduling, quality control, subcontractor and vendor coordination, purchasing, labor management, and overall project oversight. His management approach emphasizes quality workmanship, clear communication, cost control, jobsite safety, and maintaining project schedules. Safety practices are managed to meet or exceed applicable OSHA and regulatory requirements.
MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE
Steven Ratner also brings ten years of hands-on manufacturing and plant management experience involving production manufacturing, custom millwork, and automotive assembly. His responsibilities included production management, quality control, robotic equipment, manufacturing efficiency, and nationally and internationally distributed products. His automotive manufacturing experience included responsibility for outer-panel assembly processes for Mitsubishi Motors, from stamped components through vehicle assembly, as well as robotic equipment, production-line cycle times, and ISO 9000/9001 quality-system implementation and compliance.
THE RATNER FAMILY: SERVING FLORIDA SINCE 1955
The Ratner family's Florida business roots date back to 1955, when Steven's grandfather, Irving Ratner, founded Lamtron Industries in Miami, manufacturing custom millwork, case goods, and seating for hotels and restaurants. Following Irving's retirement in 1973, Steven's father, Michael Ratner, founded R Industries, continuing the family's tradition of quality craftsmanship and custom commercial furniture and case goods. Growing up in this environment, Steven was introduced to construction and craftsmanship at an early age. Today, through Ratner Construction, he continues a family tradition of construction, craftsmanship, quality, and service that began in Florida more than 70 years ago.
